I didn’t think two 25 minute strength training sessions would do much for my body. Everything I’ve ever been told, read or watched perpetuated the idea that in order to be fit you must workout every day, even twice a day, if you really wanted to see changes. I was told that you had to do an hour of cardio daily to lose weight- in fact, one doctor told me to do longer when I told her that I was doing an hour a day and still not seeing any changes.
I’ve been taught that the only way to lose fat was to restrict my diet to 800 calories a day which that same doctor told me to eat less! After years of yoyo dieting, spending frustrating hours in the gym and then having a baby at age 41 then ultimately giving up on myself for the last 3 years, I needed to do something different.
Even though high cardio and low calories worked in my 20’s, it certainly isn’t working in my 40’s. I needed something different. Something that let me focus on results of building strength rather than losing weight.

I met Patty Durell at a women’s networking event when she invited me into her gym for a free session and InBody Scan. What piqued my interest was her method was only two 25 minute sessions a week. That’s it.

As a busy mom and business owner I was all in!
Skeptical, I arrived at my appointed time and did my workout. Everything was strength based on machines, which is great because this lady hates burpees.
The way in which the trainer had me do the lifting was different from what I’d ever experienced. Rather than having to do, say, three sets of 15 reps, they had me do one set of 8-10 (depending on my range) with the goal of muscle fatigue. He wanted my muscles to “get stuck”. To push myself until I could no longer lift, then he did one assisted lift with me and moved onto the next machine.
Patty, a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant, created the High Intensity SAFE Strength Training system. It’s built in such a way that you build muscle and strength so that you can have an active healthy life for decades to come.
Patty has seen too many injuries as a result of trendy sports centered lifting, so everything she's built at Rock Solid Fitness is based around doing it safely. “If the risk isn’t worth the reward we don’t do it,” is one of Patty’s personal slogans. Meaning, it's not worth it if you’re at risk to injure yourself.
After a month of training at Rock Solid Fitness, I am pleased to report that my body fat mass has gone down a full percent and my muscle mass has gone up nearly a pound! I have not restricted my eating or added anything else to my regime. Just two 25 minute sessions a week is all it’s taken to see real results. Not losing some water weight and calling it a win. I’m building actual muscle and burning off real fat.
Imagine what I could do if I actually changed my diet to be healthy instead of pizza and wine?
