Here are the top stories today in Dunedin:

  1. Main Street in Downtown Dunedin will be closed today for a special Halloween event from Broadway to Milwaukee Avenue. Broadway will also be closed from Main Street to Scotland Street. Closures begin at noon and will continue until 9:00 PM. The Halloween parade will begin lining up at 5:45 PM at the Dunedin History Museum, followed by safe trick-or-treating at 6:30 PM. (Dunedin Gov)
  2. Halloween weekend in Dunedin promises loads of sweets and scares with parties and kid-friendly events going on. Jillybean's is hosting trunk-or-treating for the kids, while Beetlejuice will be making a special appearance at Reboot. Adults-only parties and costume contests are being held at the Fenway Hotel, HOB, The Honu, and more. (News Break)
  3. Bon Appétit continues to offer their annual Oktoberfest menu throughout October, a month many of the restaurant's German-native employees hold dear. As Covid has prevented them from visiting the place they consider home, this month's festivities have meant a great deal more to them than usual. More than just an excuse to eat bratwurst and drink beer from a boot, Oktoberfest reminds them of their heritage and provides them with a sense of community. (ABC Action News WFTS)
  4. The Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin is hosting their annual Art Harvest next month at Highlander Park. Organizers expect over 200 artists to sell and display their work, as well as over 30,000 guests in attendance. Proceeds from the event go back into the community. (JLCD.org)
  5. The owner of Casa Tina, Tina Marie Avila, is educating the public on Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead. For over 30 years, she has celebrated the holiday, this year erecting an altar at 728 Douglas Avenue. Locals are encouraged to place a photo of their deceased loved ones on the altar, say a prayer, or even tell a story about that person. (ABC Action News WFTS)
