Here are the top stories today in Dunedin:

  1. Thomas Murtaugh, a 78-year-old Dunedin man, is in critical condition after being struck by a car while crossing Skinner Boulevard on Monday morning. He was using the crosswalk when he was hit by a Toyota Rav 4. The vehicle was driven by Jennifer O'Rourke, 31, of Tarpon Springs. O'Rourke claims she did not see Murtaugh until she hit him. Neither speed nor impairment seems to be causing factors in this accident. (Dunedin Patch)
  2. The City of Dunedin received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA). The award is in honor of Dunedin's Annual Budget for the fiscal year beginning October 1, 2020. This is the city's 13th year being awarded for its hard work. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Dunedin qualifies for an estimated $18.3 million in funds according to the recent American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) to combat the COVID-19 pandemic economic impacts. Funds can be used to support business recovery, job loss, and public health. The City of Dunedin received an initial payment of $9 million in October and has been working with an ARPA consultant to determine eligible projects under the act's guidelines. Three public town hall meetings will be held throughout November to get input from Dunedin businesses, residents, and non-profit organizations. (Dunedin Gov)
  4. The Living Room on Main Street is expanding, opening another location in Wesley Chapel. it will be taking over a space previously occupied by Ciao!/Pagelli’s in The Shops At Wiregrass.
