Join Voices to Veterans in saluting Specialist 4 Mark Myers, U.S. Army. Drafted in 1966 and trained as a medic, it initially looked like he was going to spend his entire tour at Fort Benning, Georgia. Then he unexpectedly transferred to the 101st Airborne Division and, due to a clerical mistake, deployed to Vietnam as an infantryman. His story describes in detail his experience patrolling the jungles of Vietnam and the many hazards he faced, not the least of which was the Viet Cong. You can read Mark’s fascinating story at davidegrogan.com. It’s a great way to honor his service.

My spouse.
What makes the veteran someone your community should know about?
Before he became a 100% permanent disabled veteran, he was a home inspector for his family-owned home inspection company. He helped many other veterans and their families, as well as other buyers in our community, to make sure that their new homes had all the mechanical systems and more up to par or needing to be repaired before closing.
What three words best describe the veteran?
Strong, non-complaining and a fighter.
