Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:

  1. The City of Dunedin is celebrating the works and life of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a free event at Weaver Park. On January 15 attendees will have the opportunity to listen to keynote speakers, enjoy live entertainment, and hear a reading of the winning student essays on diversity. The city will host the event in partnership with Dunedin Library and Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church. It includes a bagged breakfast for all who attend. (Dunedin Gov)
  2. The first of the five qualifying competitions for the 2022 World Solo Drumming Championships will be held at the Dunedin Community Centre on February 19th. Qualifiers are being held to narrow the field of competitors who will ultimately compete for the World Solo title. Winners receive cash prizes up to $500. The top-four finishers earn a spot in the semis at the World Solos. The entry deadline is January 19, 2022. (Pipes Drums)
  3. The Dunedin Fine Art Center’s Gladys Douglas School of the Arts is currently registering for winter and spring sessions of classes for children, teens, and adults. Classes are available during the day, at night, or on a short-term basis with workshops. Some courses it offers include jewelry making, painting, photography, pottery, digital arts, and the school's latest addition, cooking. You can register for classes on its website. • The City of Dunedin reminds residents not to throw Christmas trees in the trash, as they can be reused or recycled for mulch and other purposes. Instead, prepare your Christmas trees for recycling by removing all decorations, including hooks, garland, tinsel, and lights. It's not necessary to bag the tree. Put it outside for garbage pickup and the town will take care of the rest. (Facebook | Dunedin Gov)
  • The City of Dunedin invites you to book your next party at one of its pavilions. They provide the perfect setting for a family reunion, birthday party, baby shower, or company picnic. Pavilion rentals are available in 4-hour time blocks. (Facebook| Dunedin Gov)
