Here are the top three stories in Dunedin today:
- Local business-owner, Jennifer Dorr, was recently featured in a Next Avenue article on the growing popularity of midlife entrepreneurship. In her fifties, Dorr pursued her dream of owning her own business not long after she and her husband moved from New Jersey to Pinellas County. She decided to open a women's upscale clothing store that specialized in meeting the needs of locals rather than depend on tourists. Citrus Styles opened for business in downtown Dunedin in October 2020. Read the full article to learn more about Dorr's experience as well as others who've become midlife entrepreneurs. (Next Avenue)
- The Scottish American Society of Dunedin and the city of Dunedin will host a benefit Celtic music concert to benefit the people of Ukraine at Weaver Park on April 30 between 2:00 and 8:00 PM. All bands are donating their time. The opening act, Whiskey Dregs, will be followed by the Wendy Barmore Band and headliners North of Argyll. Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased online. All you need is a lawn chair as food, beer, and wine will be available for purchase. All proceeds will be donated to Ukrainian refugees. (Dunedin Patch | Tickets)
- Ever dreamt of appearing in a movie? Angry Elf Entertainment is looking for extras to participate in a pirate festival scene TODAY in Pioneer Park! The family-friendly Lionsgate film, R.A.D.A.R. features a bionic dog and stars actor Dean Cain. All extras must be 18-years-old and take a covid tested before filming. This will be a fun, easy, and unpaid shoot. No acting experience is necessary, but pirate-themed or Floridian attire is encouraged. Contact Nancy McBride at casting@reelkasting.com for more information. (Facebook | Angry Elf Entertainment)
