Here are the top 5 stories in Dunedin today:

  1. A short-term safety improvement has been implemented in downtown Dunedin consisting of a midblock pedestrian signal at the intersection of Skinner Boulevard and the Pinellas Trail. The decision to install the signal was made after an increase in vehicle collisions with bicyclists and pedestrians at the intersection during the past couple of years. The traffic signal requires cyclists to stop and wait for the walk signal before crossing the street. (Dunedin Gov)
  2. Dunedin Parks & Rec is now offering a North City Track Program for kids ages five to 15. The program will help kids focus on self-improvement and fitness conditioning. Kids from Dunedin, Largo, Palm Harbor, Pinellas Park, Safety Harbor, and Seminole can register. The town has also added a Wheelchair Division to help make the program more inclusive. (Press Release Desk)
  3. The Dunedin Goes Carting parade will be held on Saturday, a tradition where golf cart owners compete for the most decorated ride. Festivities will begin at the VFW Post 2550 where participants can enjoy music, food, drinks, and a surprise visit from Santa and Buddy the Elf! Carts will ride along a predetermined route starting outside of the VFW located at 360 Douglas Avenue and ending at Mease Manor. (Facebook)
  4. Coronavirus cases in Pinellas County are on the rise with 523 recorded cases in Pinellas County between December 6 and December 12, which is 24.5 percent higher than the previous seven days. According to the CDC, only 61.3 percent of residents in Pinellas County are currently vaccinated. (Dunedin Patch)
  5. Looking for a special gift for the family this holiday season? There are plenty of dogs, cats, and other pets looking for homes in Pinellas County. Consider adopting Juno, the young Pit Bull Terrier, Ivan, Isaac, or Linda, the Labrador Retriever puppies, or Pearl the short-haired kitten. There are plenty of adorable faces to choose from. Remember, while adopting a pet is an all-around great gift, it's also a long-term commitment. (Dunedin Patch)
