Here are the top stories today in Dunedin:

  1. Look for Santa Claus driving around Dunedin from December 10-20, escorted by the Dunedin Fire Rescue. The Operation Santa 2021 crew will be leaving Fire Station 61 on Michigan Boulevard at 5:30 PM each night, spreading the Christmas spirit along their root. Search for your address on the fire department's interactive map to see what night Santa will be driving by your house. (Dunedin Fire Rescue)
  2. The City of Dunedin is offering free Joy Rides around Dunedin for seniors on Mondays at 10:00 AM, 11:00 AM, and 12:00 PM. Each rickshaw ride leaves from the Hale Senior Activity Center and is suitable for up to two people. Rides last approximately 45 minutes and can be scheduled ahead of time by calling the senior center. (Press Release Desk)
  3. Free parking will be available in Dunedin during the Old Fashioned Christmas event next weekend between 2:30 and 9:30 PM. Transportation will also be provided from overflow lots to the event by the Jolly Trolley. Pickup locations include the intersection of Virginia Street and New York Avenue, and at the Curtis Fundamental on Beltrees Street. Remember, due to construction on Dunedin's new City Hall building, Louden Avenue is temporarily closed between Wood Street and Virginia Street, and Virginia Street changes from a one-way to a two-way street between Louden Avenue and Milwaukee Avenue. (Dunedin Gov)
  4. The City of Dunedin presents a Gopher Tortoise Walk & Talk on December 11, hosted by Environmental Biologist and Tortoise Expert, Nichole Mattheus. During the experience, participants will learn about gopher tortoises and how a tortoise survey is conducted. The walk will take place in Hammock Park at 10:00 AM.
