Palm Harbor Man Dies in Dunedin Crash

A Palm Harbor man died early Tuesday morning following a single-car crash in Dunedin. 

According to the Pinellas County Sheriff's office, 31-year-old Matthew Vonderau was traveling northbound on County Road 1 at Hickory Gate Drive, when he lost control of the vehicle for unknown reasons.

Deputies say the vehicle swerved off the roadway struck several trees and overturned, before coming to final rest upright.

Vonderau was ejected from the vehicle. The crash occurred at about 2:15 a.m. on Friday.

Alcohol appears to be a factor in the crash, according to authorities.

Dunedin Fire Rescue responded and Vonderau was pronounced dead on scene, a news release said.
