Why: Install New Leaders and Celebrate

Post 275 leaders were elected during regularly scheduled meetings in April and May. State level leaders were recently elected during the department convention recently held in Orlando.

Among the elected group heads are;

Sid Damsgard, Legion Post Commander

Peggy Lindsay, Auxiliary Unit President

Gerard Sambets, SAL Squadron Commander

Ken Strayer, Legion Riders Director

Bob Matheson, Legion District Commander will swear in Post leadership. Other group’s leadership will be installed by district officers; Sue Craft, Auxiliary District President, Gregory Tong, SAL District Commander, and Eddie Rodriguez, District Legion Riders Director.

“Our post was chartered in 1959, and has been a big part of the community since then. We were instrumental in the building of down town’s Purple Heart Park, and helped to cover the cost of the monument” said Sid Damsgard, Post 275 Commander. “Many organizations in our community have benefitted from our involvement too; such as Dunedin High School, Suncoast Hospice, Dunedin Cares Food Pantry and Dunedin’s Little League.”

National officers will be elected and installed at The American Legion’s 102nd National Convention in Phoenix, Arizona, August 27 – September 2, 2021.

“We will have entertainment and food,” said Damsgard. “Come out and show your support for all of our new elected officers.”

Installation is open to all Legion family members and guests; including members of other posts.

The American Legion was chartered and incorporated by Congress in 1919 as a patriotic veterans organization devoted to mutual helpfulness.

It is the nation’s largest wartime veteran’s service organization, committed to mentoring youth and sponsorship of wholesome programs in our communities, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security, and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans.

The Legion also raises millions of dollars in donations at the local, state and national levels to help veterans and their families during times of need and to provide college scholarship opportunities.
