Here are the top 3 stories today in Dunedin:

  1. Unfortunately, Wendy Barmore, who was a crucial member of our community, passed away on March 12 after a series of health struggles that included aneurysms and strokes. Locals may recognize Wendy from regular performances around town with the Wendy Barmore Band. She was also a Dunedin Chamber of Commerce board member, a Chair of the Community Redevelopment Agency Advisory Committee, an active member of the Dunedin Rotary, and worked part-time advertising the Jolly Trolley. “She was very dedicated to the community, and she loved Dunedin,” said Wendy's friend Kristina Garcia. “People felt very connected to her. I don’t know anybody in the community who didn’t love her and care about her." An event celebrating Wendy’s life at Pioneer Park is being planned. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
  2. Looking to reduce your stress? Dunedin resident Sarah Phillips creates hand-made jewelry to help handle manage hers, leading to the formation of her business Armillata Designs. Made from sheet metal, Sarah uses a hammer and blowtorch to help her shape the metal. "I can just go and start hitting a piece of metal and pull something beautiful out of my stress," she said. Sarah took a silversmithing class in Dunedin when she moved to the area over a decade ago, an experience she described as "intoxicating." We're so fortunate to live in a community that offers so many creative outlets! You can check out some of Sarah's jewelry on Etsy. (Fox13)
  3. Enrollment is open for Ovations Dance Academy of Tampa's 2023 Summer Theater Camp, with classes available in both Tampa and Dunedin. Options are open for kids 5 and older, and for adults interested in learning from industry professionals. A stage and film workshop is available between May 30 and June 2 at the Tampa location. Additionally, a Salsa & Circus Arts Camp runs from June 5 to June 16, and a Disney Camp between June 19 and June 30 at both locations. Those interested can register here. (Dunedin Patch)
