Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:

  1. The Florida Department of Transportation has proposed a plan to improve traffic and safety on Skinner Boulevard between Bass Street and Broadway. The project aims to reduce the number of lanes from four to two between Broadway and Oak Street, construct roundabouts at Douglas Avenue and Highland Avenue, and add a pedestrian crossing signal at the Pinellas Trail. The project also includes plans for a multipurpose path connecting to the Pinellas Trail with the intention of making travel safer for pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists, and to stimulate economic development north of the downtown area. Learn more about this proposal and stay up to date on what they're working on at the link. (Dunedin FL Civil Space)
  2. The Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office Marine and Environmental Lands Unit recently responded to a civilian's call about a manatee in distress. Upon arriving at the scene, Deputy Jill Constant immediately noticed the manatee displaying strange behavior. “We’re watching it, and it will not go underwater," Constant recalled. "It just stayed at the surface with labored breathing.” The deputy immediately took action and jumped in the water to hold the manatee's head above water until FWC biologists arrived to rescue the mammal. The manatee is expected to make a full recovery. (PCSO Web)
  3. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Dunedin Blue Jays are auctioning off several Breast Cancer Awareness Jerseys. If you'd love to own one of these rare pink Blue Jays jerseys, simply head to this link and place a bid on the jersey most suitable for your size. Bids will be accepted through June 25 at 4 p.m. EST. Net proceeds will be donated to the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. (Dunedin Blue Jays via Facebook)
