Looking for a great place to put up guests in Dunedin?

We all know Dunedin is a great place to visit. And we love it when our friends and family come to town. We just don’t always want them to actually stay in our homes. But how do we get that across without sounding, you know, a little rude…?

Here’s an idea: strongly suggest they stay at the Mai Tai Suites. Owners John and Karen Bickford offer fully furnished 850 square foot 2-bed, 1-bath suites for less than the price of a hotel.

Here are the top 3 stories today in Dunedin:

  1. At a ribbon cutting ceremony for the new sculpture, “The See” installed at the new City Hall building, the artist shared some encouraging words. Artist Heath Satow from Ogden, Utah designed the 26-foot structure to portray a raindrop by the Ryunosuke Satoro, “Individually we are one drop, together we are an ocean.” “I want this piece to remind people when they see it that they are part of something larger,” Satow said at the dedication ceremony held on Dec. 17. “Individual citizens are the drops that make up the Dunedin Community. The curved surfaces change the way you see the sky and the environment around them reflected in it.” Read the full article to learn more about what city officials said about the art piece. 2. The City of Dunedin had to cancel the fiber network maintenance originally planned on Dec. 22. Due to unexpected conditions of the existing fiber cabling outside the New City Hall, maintenance has been tentatively rescheduled for Jan. 7. If you plan to register in-person for any city programs or events, do so before Jan. 7 or be prepared with cash or a check. (Dunedin Patch)
  3. With temperatures expected to drop into the 40s, Pinellas County cold night shelters will remain open for an extra night. A total of 300 beds are available across nine locations, offering a warm place to sleep and a hot meal. “Our cold night shelters are also for individuals that don’t have the proper heating and ventilation in their homes to handle this type of weather and with a high number of seniors that we have in our community that’s definitely a concern,” said Dr. Monika Alesnik of the Homeless Leadership Alliance of Pinellas. Shelters are open to those in need until they are full. Click the link for information on where shelters are located. (WFLA)
