Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:
- Mease Life is holding a free community vendor fair for seniors on April 26 between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. Stop by to connect with local businesses and artists while shopping for apparel, crafts, art, and more. Attendees will also have access to vendors offering various health and wellness resources. The event will also include food trucks, live music, and prizes! If you're a local vendor interested in participating, email sbroadhurst@measelife.com. (Mease Life)
- The Dunedin 3 O'Clock Big Band will perform at the Hale Senior Activity Center on April 19 at 3 p.m. This 18-piece band led by Bob Springer will feature the music of Count Basie, Duke Ellington, and other classics from the '40s! Tickets are $5 at the door. Doors open at 2:30 p.m. (Dunedin Patch)
- Pools in the Tampa Bay area are being impacted by lifeguard shortages as they continue searching for lifeguards to fill open positions. Alicia Castricone, a program coordinator with Dunedin Parks & Recreation, spoke on the issue, saying, “It is very concerning. With summer right around the corner, we need as many lifeguards as we can get to help supply and staff all the pools and beaches to prevent drowning.” The City of Dunedin increased the hourly pay for lifeguards and expanded training opportunities to try to attract more applicants. While the job requires applicants to be 16 years old, it's suitable for anyone in the community looking to be active. Those interested in applying can learn more about the job here. (Bay News 9)
