Serendipity Café Expands Hours, Adds Beer
The popular Main Street restaurant recently changed its hours for the summer. It is staying open later for dinner and added beer and hard cider to the menu.
, the popular gluten-free Main Street eatery known for its delicious breakfasts, is now opening for dinner and bringing alcohol to the menu.
Owner Kim Mohr said the decision to add alcohol led her to evolve her café from a primarily breakfast and lunch spot, to a place where diners could come after work and enjoy a cocktail and a meal.
“I had an event here in January (), and a neighboring business sold the beer and wine. A lot of beer and wine,” Mohr recalled. “So I thought, I should be doing this myself.”

Serendipity added four varieties of gluten-free beer and three flavors of gluten-free hard cider. Mohr says customers may bring their own wine in if they wish, and for a small cork fee she will provide the glass “and a smile.”
“Eventually I want to expand the business, so the next logical step was to expand the hours and the customer base.”

The new summer hours are 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday through Friday. (It was previously open until 8 p.m. on Fridays only.) On Saturday and Sunday, the hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., and the restaurant is closed on Mondays.
Mohr says the hours will change again on Sept. 1 when season kicks in; she will open at 8 a.m. every day except Monday, and she also plans to add live music on Thursday evenings at that time.
Despite the healthy nature of her business, Mohr doesn’t believe an occasional glass of wine or beer will damage her reputation, as long as it’s enjoyed in moderation.
“I didn’t want to do alcohol for the longest time, because it can go against what we do,” she admitted. “But once in a while, especially after a long day at work — it’s not gonna kill ya.”
