  • Looking for original, unique artwork created by local Dunedin artists? Stirling Art Studios & Gallery is home to 12 professional artists honing their craft, while providing original artwork that appeals to collectors, interior designers, and homeowners alike. Located at 730 Broadway in the heart of Downtown Dunedin, their mission is to promote the arts to our community. Visit them here to learn more, or stop by Thursday-Sunday from 11-3 to view them at work and learn about the creative process.
  • We all know Dunedin is a great place to visit. And we love it when our friends and family come to town. We just don't always want them to actually stay in our homes. But how do we get that across without sounding, you know, a little rude…?Here's an idea: strongly suggest they stay at the Mai Tai Suites. Owners John and Karen Bickford offer fully furnished 850 square foot 2-bed, 1-bath suites for less than the price of a hotel. Mai Tai Suites is located off the Dunedin Causeway and is surrounded by St. Joseph's Sound. It's convenient to Clearwater Beach and Downtown Dunedin. It's also dog-friendly (with no pet fee), and offers a free guest pass to nearby Honeymoon Island State Park. Invite all your friends and family to visit Dunedin — and tell them to book their rooms at Mai Tai Suites today.

Here are the top 3 stories in Dunedin today:

  1. Help bring joy and comfort to seniors in need this Holiday Season by participating in Dunedin's Silver Santa Program. Stop by the Hale Senior Activity Center and select a gift tag from their tree to participate. After you've taken a tag, simply shop for the item and bring it unwrapped to the Hale Senior Activity Center by Dec 2. Each tag has a senior resident's specific needs including sizes and interests. Purchase as many of the items on the tag as you wish and be sure to spread the word about the program to your neighbors, colleagues, family members, and friends! (City of Dunedin via Facebook | Silver Santas)
  2. Dunedin Parks & Recreation will host Intergenerational Week between Dec. 4 and Dec. 10. The week-long celebration will honor people of diverse backgrounds, ages, and experiences with daily events. Organizations throughout Dunedin have partnered together to offer various intergenerational activities for locals to enjoy and benefit from the richness of an age-integrated society. Events include an essay contest for kids, driving range practice, an intergenerational drum circle, chair volleyball, and more! See a full list of the events on the city's website. (Dunedin Gov)
  3. The Dunedin Youth Guild's 53rd Annual Holiday Tour of Homes is scheduled for Dec. 3 at 10 a.m. Tickets are $25 in advance or $30 the day of and include a tour of unique homes, tea, and time to spend shopping with local vendors. Today in Dunedin:

  • Sippin' Santa at The Honu (noon)
  • PubsGiving Party at Pinehurst Pub (noon)

From my notebook:

  • The City of Dunedin reminds residents that packages that say “flushable wipes” aren’t actually flushable. These wipes wreak havoc on sanitary sewer systems by blocking pipes that result in sanitary sewer overflows. Help the Dunedin wastewater system and surface waters by not flushing “flushable wipes”. (City of Dunedin Florida - Government via Facebook)
  • Meet Travis, a 7-year-old hound dog up for adoption at Pinellas County Animal Services. According to the shelter, he’s "spunky" and enjoys walking along trails and playing in the yard. In honor of Adopt a Senior Pet Month, you can adopt Travis or any other pet over 5-years-old for just $5! Be sure to stop by the Pinellas County Animals Services shelter in Largo to meet Travis and all of his furry friends up for adoption. (Pinellas County Animal Services via Facebook)
  • Meet Xena, a beautiful German Sheppard up for adoption at the SPCA Tampa Bay. According to the shelter's post, Xena loves to play with her ball and explore outside with her nose. Meet her today and all of the other animals waiting for their fur-ever families! (SPCA Tampa Bay via Facebook)
  • Reminder: Sippin' Santa has officially kicked off at The Honu! Be sure to stop by to try one of their delicious holiday-themed cocktails. (The Honu via Facebook)
  • Caledonia Brewing is hosting another Bonsai & Brews on Dec. 14 at 7 p.m. Grab a drink and create your own bonsai tree with the assistance of local bonsai artists. No experience or tools are required. Get your tickets online now as space is limited. (Caledonia Brewing via Facebook)
