Sons Of The American Revolution Hold March Meeting

The Sons of the American Revolution Clearwater Chapter held an in person meeting at the Dunedin Golf Club

DUNEDIN, FL — The Sons of the American Revolution Clearwater Chapter held an in person general membership meeting on March 16 at the Dunedin Golf Club at noon.

The chapter normally holds its meetings every third Wednesday of each month, except for a summer break between June to August. Forty-one members and guests attended the meeting.

The speaker was Lori Coffey, the Vice President of the Pinellas Genealogy Society and a member of the Caladesi Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution. She spoke about the women who were on the Mayflower, and the role they had in the establishment of Plymouth Colony in Massachusetts.

Clearwater Chapter members Walter Arnold, Robert Anderson, Kevin MacFarland and Harry Fuller were awarded the Meritorious Service Medal by Saint Petersburg Chapter President Brett McMullen due to special service to the Saint Petersburg Chapter.

Lori Coffey was given a Certificate of Appreciation for her presentation at this meeting. Compatriot Robbie Robinson was given a Certificate of Appreciation for his presentation at the February meeting about the Mayflower and the settlement of early Massachusetts.

David Morris King, David Martin Whelan and Warren Arnold Abadie Jr. were inducted as new members. David Martin Whelan was presented with the Military Service Medal due to his military service.

Margorie Weatherbee won the 50/50 jackpot of $42, which she donated back to the chapter, Warren Wilson won the gift basket and Don Levy won the fish fry dinner certificate.

The Sons of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpartisan organization dedicated to enhancing education, promoting patriotism and preserving American history. Members of the Sons of the American Revolution can trace their lineage to a patriot who supported the cause of American Independence.
