Here are the top three stories in Dunedin today:
- To address disagreements between stores and restaurateurs in downtown Dunedin over issues such as code compliance, outdoor dining and parking, City Manager Jennifer Bramley has proposed forming a task force. Using an independent facilitator to conduct meetings, the downtown task force would be composed of representatives of the chamber of commerce, hospitality businesses and retailers. They would meet weekly to quickly address issues. Bramley reached out to members of the community with the idea and they were all very supportive. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
- Dunedin commissioners offered their congratulations to Dunedin Elementary School principal, Kerry Wyatt, on her retirement. Wyatt worked in education for 38 years, eight of which were served as principal. Commissioners praised her for having "a gift for bringing people together and allowing them to use their professional judgment and experience to move things forward." Read the full article to learn more about her contributions to education. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)
- City commissioners have approved a final amendment to the highly anticipated Gateway project, proposed for a site at Main Street, Milwaukee Avenue and Skinner Boulevard. The structure will include 90 apartment units, a 79-room boutique hotel and commercial spaces. Developer Joe Kokolakis expects to begin work in the fall. (Tampa Bay Newspapers)

Are you a Dunedin resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
