Here are the top three stories in Dunedin today:
1. The Dunedin Public Library is hosting "Tiny Art Afternoon" on July 7 at 11 a.m. Participants will get the chance to create "tiny art" on miniature ocean-themed canvases. The design will be pre-sketched and all art supplies will be provided. Canvases will be displayed in the library for one month, after which they can be picked up. Those interested can stop by the library reference desk or call 727-298-3080 ext: 1707 to sign up. (Dunedin GovDunedin Gov)
2. A Dunedin chef will be competing in the seventh annual Epic Chef event to benefit Feeding Tampa Bay. Chef Steven Capone of the HEW Parlor & Chophouse at the Fenway Hotel will be participating on the first day of the competition. Participants are given a mystery box of unlikely ingredients chosen by a child in the Boys & Girls Club and are challenged to create a unique, tasty meal in front of a live audience. The event is scheduled for July 18, July 25, and August 1 in the Epicurean Kitchen at the Epicurean Hotel in Tampa. While tickets are sold out, the event will be live-streamed in the hotel lobby and on YouTube at 6:45 p.m. (Dunedin Patch | Feeding Tampa Bay YouTube)
3. Dunedin Tide will host a Piping & Drumming College next week, which includes several family-friendly events for the community. Join them on June 27 at Flanagan's Irish Pub at 7 p.m. for a special Piping and Drumming Recital. The following evening at 7 p.m., they will be hosting a trivia night on all things Dunedin, Scottish, piping and drumming at Jack Pallino's Napoletano Pizza and Pub. Then on June 29 at 7 p.m., stop by Jack Pallino’s Napoletano Pizza and Pub for a Student Performance Ceilidh! After a week of instruction and hard work, this is a chance for the students to get up and share their music! All are welcome. (Dunedin Tide of Piping, Drumming & Dance via Facebook)

Are you a Dunedin resident looking for an investment alternative to the stock market?
Bloomberg recently asked experts where they’d invest $100,000 right now, and many of them had the same answer: fine art.
Thinking you can’t afford a Picasso? Well in 2012, Congress passed the JOBS Act, which allowed for the securitization of artwork. A company called Masterworks.io built the largest platform for buying and selling art securities. In the past, you could only buy shares of companies like Apple, but with this investing app, you can unlock this powerful investment.
Meaning, you can invest in shares of million-dollar artwork. And in uncertain times, it turns out, fine art may be a wise investment. Here’s why:
- Low correlation to stocks according to Citi
- Contemporary art historically returns 23.2% when inflation is >3%
- Contemporary art prices outpaced the S&P 500 by 164% (1995-2021)
