Here are the top stories today in Dunedin:
- Dunedin Vegan Deli is likely to close its doors for good as owners announced their Ybor City location is permanently closing this month. According to their Facebook page, there are various reasons they've chosen to sell, including "the economy, supply chain shortages, changes in city parking laws that no longer allow our customers to park for free behind our deli, and staffing issues." Their deli locations in Orlando and Sarasota have closed as well. After the Ybor location closes, the Dunedin deli on Main Street will be the last one remaining open. There's no indication of when it will close its doors as well. Customers can still order from the deli online. (CL Tampa Bay)
- ABC Action News was in St. Pete over the weekend offering insight into the hurricane relief drive hosted by The Junior League of St. Pete and the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin. The drive was a success, with some locals stopping by more than once with donations. “They’re our neighbors,” said Bethany Sullivan, president of the Junior League of Clearwater-Dunedin. “Knowing that could have been us, it makes it even more important to help and be there for them.” Items were taken to Fort Myers on Saturday in a truck loaned by Amazon. Those who weren't able to make the drive over the weekend can still donate on The Junior League of St. Pete's website. (ABC Action News)
- Residents who want to cast a ballot in the Nov. 8 general and local elections must register to vote by today, Oct. 11. You can register online at RegistertoVoteFlorida.gov or pick up a paper voter registration application at county elections offices, libraries, military recruitment offices, or public assistance offices. Additionally, you can download a printable version of the application here. You must complete the application and return it in person to a county elections office by the end of the day or have it postmarked by Oct. 11. (Dunedin Patch)
