Thus far there has not been much published about women’s specific cholesterol issues. The question “Are women’s cholesterol problems different?” Cholesterol is a waxy substance found in your blood. The body needs some cholesterol to build healthy cells. High levels of cholesterol can increase the risk of heart disease and stroke. Women’s cholesterol levels can increase with menopause and pregnancy. Most of the time high cholesterol produced by the liver does not cause symptoms.
