Cause of House Fire Still Under Investigation

East Lake Fire Chief Tom Jamison says two residents were in the home on Ranch Road when the fire broke out.

We should soon learn more about the cause of a fire that caused extensive damage to an East Lake home early Sunday morning.

East Lake Fire Chief Tom Jamison says a final report about the blaze at 831 Ranch Road in unincorporated Tarpon Springs should be finished early next week.

Firefighters from East Lake, Palm Harbor and Tarpon Springs responded to the fire around 4:30 a.m., March 3.

Jamison says two residents were in the home at the time. "No injuries. Everybody got out safely. They were fortunate," he said.

Jamison says the fire started on the second level of the house and was quickly extinguished.

The cause is under investigation with more details expected to be included in the final report. "It's not suspicious from the looks of it," said Jamison.

The 2,800-square-foot home is off Keystone Road in a rural area of estate homes, many of which have horses and pastures. The home is on a lot that is just over 3-acres.
