East Lake Fire Rescue to Host Water Safety Event

The event is in response to a recent near-fatal drowning incident.

Tarpon Springs, FL – According to the Florida Department of Health, accidental drownings are constantly one of the top causes of the death of children in the state.

A recent near-drowning in in the East Lake area of Pinellas County has prompted the East Lake Fire Rescue to host a Water Safety Neighborhood Canvass at Golfside of Lansbrook, 4605 Village Center Drive in Palm Harbor.

The event will take place Tuesday, June 28 from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. Members of Safe Kids, the North Pinellas YMC and CERT team will meet East Lake Fire Rescue members at Station 57, 3375 Tarpon Lake Blvd., to assist in handing out water safety bags filled with drowning prevention materials.
