Palm Harbor Dump Truck Overturns, Spills Gravel on Howard Frankland Bridge
John Bonacci, 59, of Palm Harbor was hauling a load of gravel on the Howard Frankland Bridge Monday morning when he lost control of the dump truck, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
A Palm Harbor man escaped injury when a dump truck he was driving overturned and spilled a load of gravel onto the Howard Frankland Bridge.
Florida Highway Patrol Investigators say at around 10:13 a.m. Monday, John Bonacci, 59, was driving the truck in the outside southbound lane of the bridge. As Bonacci approached 4th St., the truck's left front tire blew out. The dump truck veered right, then left and overturned onto its left side, spilling a load of gravel onto the southbound lanes of the bridge. Gravel also spilled into the northbound lanes.
The accident caused traffic backups on the bridge. The gravel was cleaned-up and all lanes of the bridge were re-opened at 12:45 p.m.
