Pinellas To Host DIY Irrigation, Landscaping Expo On June 24
The half-day event will help North County homeowners with tips about Florida landscaping and giveaways.

PALM HARBOR, FL – Pinellas County residents will have a chance to learn how they can help create a Florida-friendly landscape in their own yard.
Pinellas County Utilities will host a DIY Irrigation and Landscaping Mini Expo on Saturday, June 24 from 9 a.m. to noon in the Community Room at the East Lake Community Library, 4125 East Lake Road S., Palm Harbor.
The free mini expo will offer one-on-one discussions and demonstrations about the best way to water lawns and plants, which plants are best for Florida landscapes, troubleshooting irrigation systems, how to clean a sprinkler system’s strainer and more.

Also, there will be a 15-minute presentation about the reclaimed water system in North Pinellas County at 10 a.m., and a 15-minute presentation by a Pinellas County Extension expert about Florida-Friendly Landscaping techniques at 11 a.m.
According to Pinellas County Utilities, the goal of the mini expo is to teach homeowners about typical maintenance techniques for their irrigation systems, using reclaimed water in landscapes, choosing the correct plants for a successful and beautiful Florida landscape and to provide homeowners with the opportunity to ask Pinellas County experts questions about their individual irrigation and landscaping issues.

Other educational opportunities include information about Pinellas County’s fertilizer ordinance, protecting Pinellas County’s watersheds and ways to keep the yard green and mosquito-free during the summer months.
Participants can also sign up to participate in a future focus group about the North County reclaimed water system.
The county will provide multiple free giveaways for homeowners to help with landscaping and irrigation needs, including rain gauges, reusable landscaping and irrigation maintenance guides and tip sheets, while supplies last.
