Suncoast Animal League Helps Furry Five
The group recently helped some furry friends who were struggling with a case of mistaken identity.

Theirs is a story of mistaken identity and Mexican food.
Last week the Suncoast Animal League received a call from the Ehrlich Animal Hospital. Four baby raccoons needed a home.
Or so they thought.

Someone found the raccoon pups trying to nurse on their deceased mother, who they assumed had been hit by a car in front of a Mexican restaurant in Tampa. Would the Suncoast Animal League be able to take them? Sure, no problem, the league responded.
We love helping baby raccoons, the league said in a press release.

By the time the four baby raccoons had arrived they had miraculously transformed themselves into five baby opossums. Okay, no problem.
The Suncoast Animal League loves helping baby opossums too.
Since their mother was tragically killed in front of a Mexican restaurant, the league decided to name them appropriately. So, meet the Lopez family of four females and one male:

- Rosa Maria
- Consuela
- Margarita
- Jennifer
The little hissers (yes, baby opossums hiss) are eating well and seem to be in great spirits. Although they are no longer "pouch potatoes," they have found a perfect place under a surrogate mom stuffed animal for their siestas.
