Birth of the Sun: The First Florida Frontiers presents the "Birth of the Sun and Your Connections to it" tonight at 7 at the City of Imagination/Gulfport Arts Center, 2726 54th St. S. The event is free; donations appreciated. Organizers say artist and storyteller Hermann Trappman offers insights into the creation of the solar system.
Salsa Anyone?: Salsa lessons tonight at 7 for just $7. Come out to the Gulfport Casino Ballroom for lessons and dancing. Call (727) 893-1070 for more information.
Operation Santa Success: Thank you Gulfport! Organizers with the Gulfport Police Department's "Operation Santa" say they have enough toys for all the children registered this year. A few weeks ago, organizers said they were behind on their collection, but with the donations this past week, they'll be able to provide for more than 150 children.

Help the Homeless: There's still time to donate shoes, socks, jackets and blankets to be distributed to homeless individuals and families in Pinellas County. Drop off donations at T and Me Tea Company, 2908 1/2 Beach Blvd S., through Friday, Dec. 23.
