5 Things to Know Today: Code Enforcement and Litter Fines Increased
Gulfport City Council voted to increase litter fines, prohibit indoor furniture in yards and more in "5 things to Know Today."

Names on Ballot: The order of names on the ballot for the Ward one and Ward three for Gulfport City Council have been chosen. Names will appear with David Hastings then Dan Liedtke for Ward one and James Perry and Jennifer Salmon for Ward three. The city-wide vote is on March 13, 2012.
Code Enforcement: The Gulfport City Council voted on two ordinances Tuesday night that tackled code enforcement issues in the city. Four of the five members voted on prohibiting outdoor furniture from being stored outdoors and to require all trash containers must be removed from curbside of the property on the day of collection and placed in the side or rear yard and behind the front of the primary structure. Both ordinances passed on first reading.
Litter Fines Increased: Gulfport City Council voted unanimously to increase litter fines to $143 if uncontested, and $188 if they were to contest the violation and are found guilty of the citation. The change takes affect immediately.

Change for Solicitors: Gulfport City Council voted unanimously to require solicitors to have permission before leaving flyers at Gulfport homes. The change takes affect immediately.
