Ankle Monitor Leads Gulfport Police To Accused Car Burglar

A Gulfport man has been arrested for reportedly committing 13 car burglaries despite wearing a court-mandated ankle monitor.

GULFPORT, FL – A Gulfport man has been arrested for reportedly committing 13 car burglaries despite wearing a court-mandated ankle monitor.

According to Gulfport Police, windows of 13 cars in were smashed and items were stolen from the cars on three days between May 16 and May 25.

All of the burglarized cars were located in the same block bounded by 30th Avenue South, 31st Avenue South, Beach Boulevard South and 56th Street South.

Police began looking for known offenders in the area and their investigation led to them to Benjamin Langkamp Jr.,18, of 3019 Beach Blvd. S., Gulfport.

Due to a previous offense, Langkamp had an ankle monitor. Information recorded on the monitor showed Langkamp was in the areas of the burglaries at the times they were committed.

Upon questioning, Langkamp admitted to the burglaries and was arrested.
