The Tierra Verde beach, a favorite among Gulfport residents, is one of the top 25 beaches in Trip Advisor's Travelers' Choice 2013 awards, checking in at No. 4.

Fort De Soto's North Beach took top honors in Trip Advisor's 2009 list of the best beaches in the U.S. It's also previously been named the country's No. 1 beach by Dr. Beach.
A few other Tampa Bay area beaches also made the cut: Siesta Key Public Beach in Sarasota (No. 2), Caladesi Island State Park in Dunedin (No. 12), Pass-a-Grille in St. Pete Beach (No. 15) and Clearwater Beach (No. 18).
