German Transplant Can San Trantow Discovers Purpose in Gulfport

Can San Trantow is a holistic healer with a headquarters located right here in Gulfport.

Prior to 2001, Can San Trantow was not sure of his calling, much less where to take root. Trantow lived in Germany at the time and was learning about holistic healing. The idea of a career in the field was never something he took seriously.

β€œI didn’t know what I was searching for,” said Trantow. β€œI was young and I thought all of this spiritual stuff was just crazy.”

In his youth, Trantow studied his passion for art, painting and even graphic design. However, he vividly remembers a void in his life. Regardless of what he was doing or pursuing, Trantow said, β€œthere was always something that did not fulfill me.”

Over time Trantow’s view of the holistic world transformed. He began to study holistic healings as well as the art of meditation. Trantow found rejuvenation in the process.

β€œOne day it hit me,” said Trantow. β€œI started to meet people that enlightened me and I realized how helpful these practices can be.”

Trantow continued in his journey for knowledge pertaining to spirituality and ultimately came to a dead end. He was not sure where to take his newfound passion. Trantow was advised by a teacher to try relocating to Florida, St. Petersburg to be specific.

Since he lived in Germany at the time, Florida seemed like a world away. Nonetheless, Trantow took his teacher’s advice and moved to St. Pete in 2001.

The holistic healing center, appropriately named Can San’s, was initially located in the heart of downtown St. Petersburg on Central Ave. After a few years on the block, Trantow decided to move the academy to a more fitting location. In 2007, .

Now on its fifth year of success, Can San’s has become a world renowned establishment for holistic healing. Folks come from all over the world to take in teachings from the gurus at Can San’s.

According to Trantow, anyone can benefit from meditation and spiritual exploration. There is an exception to his statement though. β€œYou have to be open,” said Trantow.

Currently, Can San’s offers a free meditation class on Thursday nights at 6 p.m. A schedule of events and classes can be found on the Can San’s website. The retail portion of Can San’s (located on the first floor) is open daily and offers prayer beads, essential oils and other spiritual necessities.
