Gulfport Man Dies in Interstate Crash in Manatee County

A Gulfport man was killed after his car left the roadway and crashed into some trees in Manatee County on Tuesday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reports.

Kyle W. Green, 25, was headed south on Interstate 75 around 9:40 p.m. "at a high rate of speed" when he came upon some traffic and swerved to his right, according to an FHP report. His 1998 Dodge Durango began to spin clockwise and left the shoulder of the road, eventually striking a group of trees.

Green died at the scene, according to the highway patrol.

It was not clear if he was wearing a seat belt or if alcohol was involved, according to the initial report.

The accident occurred near mile marker 231 in northern Manatee County.
