Gulfport Seniors Celebrate Mardi Gras
Fat Tuesday was in full effect at the Senior Center with masks, sweets and raffles to boot.
Last year, the Senior Center held its first ever Mardi Gras celebration. The event proved to be so successful, volunteers were at it again on Tuesday. Sponsors for Tuesday's event included Eagle Lake Rehab and Care, Griswold Special Care and Woodlawn Cemetary.
Volunteer and event coordinator, Julia Fuce, was happy with Tuesday's turn out. "I definitely think it was a success," said Fuce.
Last year's Mardi Gras Party was a bit more crowded, but Fuce says that this year's food donations made up for it. Pulled pork sandwiches, cole slaw and pin wheels were served as the main course. Sweets like candy bars, eclairs and chocolate covered strawberries were available for dessert.

Fuce was joined by a team of volunteers that made the event possible. She says that they work well together. "We are a group of people that enjoy what we're doing," said Fuce.
Sponsorship is encouraged and always welcome at the Senior Center. To become a sponsor of a Gulfport Senior Center event, contact 727-893-1112.
