Man Sentenced in Fatal Gulfport Car Chase

A suspected purse snatcher who crashed his car and killed a passenger while running from police has been sentenced to 30 years in prison.

The Tampa Bay Times reports that Frank W. Roberto was found guilty of vehicle homicide and fleeing law enforcement officers resulting in death.

The high-speed chase started in Gulfport, and killed passenger Kenneth Davis.

Roberto's attorney had argued that the 41-year-old Davis was forced to speed  away from police in January 2012 because Davis held him at gunpoint.

Roberto drove his Kia north on 49th Street and crashed his vehicle on 5th Avenue North, killing Davis.
