Runners to Sport Speedos – for a Good Cause

Join the Run

There's still time to sign up for the annual Santa Speedo Run in Gulfport! Don't worry, the run is only one mile and a Speedo is not mandatory . . . just encouraged.

When

The event is Saturday. Registration is at 3 p.m. with the run starting at 4 p.m. at Clymer Park. The run starts at Clymer Park, 22nd Ave S. and Beach Dr. S. (55th St.), and ends at O’Maddy’s Bar & Grill, on Shore Blvd. at 54th St. S.

Cost

Register for $25 per person at www.SantaSpeedoRun.org. Runners can register in person the day of the event, beginning at 3 p.m. But organizers strongly encourage people to sign up online, so they have an accurate head count.

Why Run?

Each registered runner will receive a Santa Speedo Run T-Shirt, Santa Hat and Finishers Medal! Not to mention, you're running for a good cause. Proceeds benefit Brighter Seasons For Children, a program within AIDS Service Association of Pinellas Inc. (ASAP). The program helps provide holiday food packages, gifts for children, backpacks for school and school supplies and more for families and children infected and affected by HIV/AIDS living in Pinellas County.

The yearly run is a unique way to build awareness of the many children in our area infected or affected by HIV/AIDS.

Raise Money

Runners can help raise money for the cause. I've signed up with Team Patchletes! We're "patchy" athletes! And, no, I'm not sporting a Speedo, but I will be in the holiday spirit!
