Plans progress for tower near Diplomat resort in Hollywood, with condos and hotel rooms (sun-sentinel.com) — A massive new 42‑story tower and adjacent condo are moving forward at Hollywood’s Diplomat Landing, bringing 500 hotel rooms, new retail space, and a $100 million beach club investment. With city and county approvals in hand and no traffic or environmental objections, officials say the project will boost Hollywood’s economy, though it won’t include affordable housing units.
   

2. Weekend things to do: Boat parades, ugly sweaters, holiday concerts, Indie Craft Bazaar, Mike Tyson (sun-sentinel.com) — Hollywood residents have several big draws close to home this weekend, including Sarah Brightman’s “A Winter Symphony” and Mike Tyson’s live Netflix-taped show at Hard Rock Live. NAIC Body Would Expunge 'Investment Subsidiary' From Statement Blanks, RBC Instructions (jdsupra.com) — A major national insurance regulators’ meeting recently took place in Hollywood where a key NAIC working group backed removing “investment subsidiary” reporting from insurers’ annual statements and risk-based capital rules. The move aims to close transparency gaps that let companies repackage investments for more favorable treatment, with further changes now headed to another NAIC group for review.
   

4. Perfect: Miami Beach Scores 100 on LGBTQ+ Protections (communitynewspapers.com) — Hollywood joins Miami Beach and several other Florida cities in earning a perfect 100 on the Human Rights Campaign’s 2025 Municipal Equality Index for LGBTQ+ protections. The index highlights strong local laws, services, and leadership supporting equality, even as many state averages declined. For Hollywood residents, it’s another signal that local policies are keeping pace with some of the most inclusive cities in the country.
