• Collier commissioners unanimously approve new 3,200-home rural village (news-press.com) — A massive new 3,200-home “Horse Trials” village has been approved just west of State Road 29 in the Rural Lands Stewardship Area surrounding Immokalee, bringing future housing, a school site, fire station, parks and road upgrades. The project preserves significant open space and off-site panther habitat, but also raises concerns from at least one Floridian about loss of wild lands and overbuilding.
