Car Fatally Strikes Man Before Crashing Into Winter Haven Hotel
Deputies, along with Polk County Fire Rescue, were dispatched at 4:21 p.m. Saturday to the crash scene where a Winter Haven Man died.
WINTER HAVEN, FL — A Winter Haven man has died after being struck by a car that then crashed into the Economy Inn Suites, 1901 Cypress Gardens Blvd. SE in Winter Haven.
According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies and Polk County Fire Rescue were dispatched at 4:21 p.m. Saturday to the crash scene after a Ford Focus driven by Andrew Hensley, 29, drove off the road and struck 33-year-old Standall Brooks of Winter Haven before crashing into the hotel.
Brooks was pronounced dead at the scene. Hensley suffered a minor injury.

The hotel sustained “substantial damage” and required temporary stabilization measures.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation, but the sheriff's office believes Hensley may have had a medical problem before the crash.
