19-Year-Old Gunned Down Outside Lakeland Apartment Complex

LAKELAND, FL — A 19-year-old man was shot and killed late Monday afternoon outside a Lakeland apartment complex, according to police.

Robin Tillett of the Lakeland Police Department said the shooting occurred shortly before 4 p.m. at the Cambridge Cove Apartments. The apartment complex is located at 1700 Cambridge Cove Pass.

"The victim, who was from out of town, was meeting someone in the parking lot of the apartment complex," Tillett said on Tuesday. "Detectives believe that the victim knew his assailant, however, no suspect has been confirmed at this time."

First responders from Lakeland Fire Department and Polk Fire Rescue pronounced the man dead on the scene at 4:13 p.m.
