POLK COUNTY, FL — Two people are dead and four others injured following a five-vehicle crash Tuesday morning on U.S. 27.
The Polk County Sheriff's Office said the accident occurred at 6:07 a.m. in the northbound lanes of U.S. 27 just south of U.S. 192 in the Four Corners area of northeast Polk County.
The crash closed the northbound lanes of the highway until about 10 a.m.

The sheriff's office did not know the extent of the injuries suffered by the four people but said they are not life-threatening.
