DAVENPORT, FL — The Polk County Sheriff's Office is anxious to close a 3-year-old cold case involving a hit-and-run crash that claimed the life of a 36-year-old Orlando man.

On Saturday, May 30, 2020, between 4 and 4:45 a.m., Scott Andrew Matthies left the RaceTrac service station at 43250 U.S. 27 in unincorporated Davenport and began walking north on U.S. 27.

Evidence at the scene indicates that he was struck a few minutes later by a large vehicle (perhaps a box truck or a semi) at U.S. 27 and Interstate 4. Matthies' body was seen by a passing driver, who stopped and called 911.
