4 ​Polk State Volleyball Players Named All-Citrus Conference

​Four Polk State volleyball players have earned All-Citrus Conference honors for the 2023 season.

POLK COUNTY, FL — Four Polk State volleyball players have earned All-Citrus Conference honors for the 2023 season.

Outside hitter Keionna Mackey and libero Irene Mostardini were each named to the first team. Middle blocker A'lanae Margaritha and setter Madi O'Sullivan earned second-team honors.

Mackey, a 6-foot-tall transfer from Santa Fe College, leads the team with 282 total kills and ranks ninth in the country, averaging 3.86 kills per set. The sophomore has recorded at least 10 kills in 13 of the Eagles' last 14 matches, including a career-high 27 against Daytona State College on Oct. 4.

Mostardini, a sophomore captain from Italy, is averaging a team-best 4.92 digs per set, which ranks in the top 20 nationally. She's done so with a stellar .936 receiving percentage. Mostardini has recorded at least 20 digs in eight matches this season and leads the team with 31 service aces.

Margaritha, a 6-foot-2-inch sophomore from the Dominican Republic, is averaging 1.66 kills per set this season and ranks second on the team with 58 total blocks, including a team-high 18 solo blocks. She is averaging 0.76 blocks per set.

The team leader in assists, O'Sullivan ranks ninth in the entire country, averaging 9.39 assists per set. She's finished with at least 15 assists in each of the 16 matches she's played this year, including a season-high 49 against Daytona State College on Oct. 4. O'Sullivan's 19 service aces rank third on the team.

For the season, Polk State is 12-9 overall, 8-6 in Citrus Conference play, and ranked No. 16 in the NJCAA Poll.

The Eagles will open the FCSAA Tournament in Fort Myers on Friday against No. 15 Eastern Florida State College.
