49-Year-Old Man Struck By Hit-And-Run Driver
A 49-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking home, police said.
LAKE WALES, FL — A 49-year-old man was in critical condition Saturday night after being struck by a hit-and-run driver while walking home.
Carrie Horstman of the Polk County Sheriff's Office said the crash occurred around 7:45 p.m. along U.S. Highway 17/92 near the 3800 block.
"A nearby resident heard the crash and responded, then contacted law
enforcement," Horstman said. "The victim was transported to a local hospital with critical injuries."

Based on evidence left behind at the scene, investigators are searching for a 1994-1997 blue or green Honda Accord, according to Horstman.
She said the victim was walking along the fog line when he was struck.

The crash is under investigation by the Polk County Sheriff's Office Traffic Unit.
