Auburndale Central Elementary Girl Killed When Pickup Truck Hit Her On U.S. Highway 92
A man did not know he fatally hit a child with his truck Wednesday. Another driver notified him and he drove back to the U.S. 92 location.
POLK COUNTY, FL — A 6-year-old girl died Wednesday morning when a Ford F-150 hit her on an Auburndale road, a police news release said.
According to Auburndale police, just before 6:30 a.m., the child , Ra’nesha Jackson, started to cross U.S. Highway 92 at the Havendale Boulevard intersection when the truck hit her. Unaware he hit a person, the driver continued toward Lake Alfred. Another driver told him he had hit a person, and then he drove back to the location and cooperated with detectives.
Investigators said he did not show any signs of impairment.

A medical examiner pronounced Jackson dead at the crash area, deputies said. She attended Auburndale Central Elementary.
