POINCIANA, FL — A 14-year-old boy at Lake Marion Middle School is accused by deputies of bringing a gun to school Wednesday after they arrested the suspect on multiple charges, a Polk County Sheriff's Office news release said.

Anthony Archer faces charges of possession of a firearm on school property, grand theft of a firearm, carrying a concealed firearm, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a minor, a police report said.

A student told deputies that they heard at school Archer showed someone a Glock 9 mm Monday. As students changed classes Wednesday morning, a witness who accused Archer of saying he would shoot up the school and shoot a teacher first went to the school office and repeated what Archer said to a staff member.

According to deputies, a witness said Archer lifted his shirt and showed her a gun tucked into his waistband during fifth period on Monday after she didn't give him a high-five. The following day, the witness told police she saw Archer playing with a bullet and accused him of telling her that he would shoot up the school and that nobody would make it out alive.

Other students told deputies that Archer made a motion with his hand during math class on Tuesday as if he had a gun while students picked on him. Investigators said that students accused him of saying, "Don't come to school tomorrow," then he laughed.

The staff member notified about Archer's threats informed the school resource deputy of the situation, and then the officer went to the eighth-grade building, a news release said.

A Glock 9 mm was removed from the front right side of Archer's waistband after Archer answered, "Yes," he had a weapon and told the deputy where to find it. In addition, the officer removed a magazine from his pocket that was loaded with one round. A magazine had not been placed inside the gun, deputies said.

Archer was then arrested.

“The child who immediately reported this crime to school administrators is our hero – he heard something, and immediately said something," Sheriff Grady Judd said. "There is no telling what this eighth-grader might have done otherwise. This juvenile suspect is facing some serious felonies.”

Deputies said Archer went into his parents' bedroom while they were out of town and took their gun. His grandfather, who had been staying with him, told authorities he didn't know a gun was in the house.
