Affordable Housing Gets Approval In Polk County: Commission
The Polk County Board of Commissioners approved an affordable homes project that will begin construction soon in Lakeland and Davenport.
POLK COUNTY, FL — Affordable homes are coming to Lakeland and Davenport through a project that was recently approved by the Polk County Board of Commissioners.
The project is funded by the State Housing Initiatives Partnership Program, county officials said.
Domain Homes, Inc. will build two and three-bedroom homes in Davenport and Lakeland.

Four houses are scheduled to begin construction soon. Each house will then be sold to an eligible buyer.
“We are proud to support these four new construction homes in Polk County,” Tamara West, manager of Housing and Neighborhood Development said. “These houses will create new opportunities for families and individuals struggling to afford housing in Polk County.”

The four houses are expected to be finished by July 2021.
The homes will be available to persons or families who have obtained a first-time homebuyer counseling certificate within the past 12 months. Eligibility is also based on a low or moderate income classification for the buyer. Keystone Challenge Fund, located in Lakeland, will assist with down payment and closing costs on these properties.
The two and three-bedroom houses will be built on Fuller Street in Davenport. The two-bedroom houses will be built on Annette Street in Lakeland.
