LAKELAND, FL — An Amtrak passenger train slammed into a 35-foot flatbed trailer in Polk County Thursday but no one was injured.

Carrie Horstman of the The Polk County Sheriff's Office told Patch the truck driver was later cited. Emmanuel Hortas Colon was cited for insufficient space to drive completely through a railroad crossing.

The train, which had 102 passengers on board, was heading east along the Combee Road North near US Hwy 92 East in Lakeland at the time of the crash, according to Horstman.
