Baby, 3 Months, Airlifted After Near-Drowning
A Lakeland infant was airlifted to Tampa General Hospital after a nearly drowning in a bathtub Friday morning.

LAKELAND, FL — A near-drowning incident in a home’s bathtub sent a 3-month-old Lakeland child to the hospital Friday morning.
According to Lakeland Fire Rescue, first responders received a call from a home in the 700 block of First Street around 11:20 a.m. Aug. 11. When they arrived, they began life-saving measures on the baby, who is not being identified at this time.
The child was stabilized and airlifted to Tampa General Hospital for treatment, Janel Vasallo, the department's spokeswoman, wrote in an email to media. The baby’s current medical condition is not known.

It is unclear how the near-drowning occurred. Further information is not being released at this time.
