Restaurant That's Been Serving Cuban Food Since 1980s In Downtown Lakeland Forced Out

A popular restaurant in downtown Lakeland that's been around for 36 years won't make it to see year 37 at the same location.

LAKELAND, FL — A well-known Cuban sandwich shop that has been in Lakeland for 36 years will be closing soon, WTVT reported.

Owner of the Silver Ring Cafe, Tim Altman, told the TV outlet that the commercial landlord will not renew the lease forcing it to shut its doors in August. It opened in Munn Park in 1986.

Lakeland's downtown scene is changing, according to the landlord, Kate Lake.
