BARTOW, FL — Emergency repairs needed to correct a deficiency on the deck of a Polk County bridge crossing a drainage canal just east of Old Grade Road will close Deen Still Road for 10 days starting Monday, Dec. 12.

To bypass the work zone, eastbound traffic along Deen Still Road east of State Road 33 will detour at Old Grade Road and head south to Interstate 4 at the County Road 557 interchange (Exit 48).

Westbound thru-traffic along Deen Still Road will not be permitted west of U.S. 27.

Westbound thru-traffic will be redirected along U.S. 27 south to Interstate 4, then west to the County Road 557 interchange at Interstate 4 (Exit 48).

Local westbound traffic on Deen Still Road from U.S. 27 will be permitted no further than Hickman Road.

Lengthy travel delays are expected, especially during peak-hour traffic. Turnarounds at the work zone will be difficult and dangerous. Commuters and commercial haulers should avoid the area, drive with caution, follow detour signs and add extra time to trips along detour routes.
